1978 Chevrolet Malibu RESTOMOD powered by a 489 cu. in. bored and stroked Big Block Chevy boasting over 570 dyno’d horsepower (documents included); backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, and a Strange Dana 60 rear differential. It’s currently on the second owner since it was completed 20 years and less than 3000 (TMU) miles ago. Car has never been tracked and runs on pump gas. Over $21,000 in receipts for all the work performed are included.

The Malibu starts and runs great, handles well, and is a true “Sleeper”. It has also been a show winner at local Cruise in events.

SCAT forged stroker kit with 9.5:1 pistons
Crower hydraulic flat tappet cam with .287 intake / .296 exhaust duration and .563 intake / .585 exhaust lift.
Competition Cams Pro Magnum roller rocker arms
AFR (Air Fuel Research) aluminum 305 cc heads.
Edelbrock air gap manifold
Holley 850 cfm double pumper carburetor
MSD billet distributor
High volume oil pump
Moroso 7 qt oil pan
Hooker headers
Complete stainless steel 3” exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers and ‘X’ pipe.
Aluminum radiator with thermostatically controlled fans.
Professionally prepared 700R4 with deep oil pan and 8” 3000 rpm stall converter.
Body & Paint:
The body was originally taken off of the frame and painted a 2008 Mercedes-Benz Iridium Silver. The frame was treated with a ‘lizard skin’ protective finish. New body mounts were installed.
All of the glass appears to be in good condition.
All external lights and turn signal’s function.
Wipers work, but washers do not.
The front-end clip is from a ‘80’s El Camino with 4 headlights
Steel cowl hood.
There are age related blemishes in the body including a small dent in the roof and a bubble on the lower section of the driver’s door. See photos.
Chassis:
Tubular front upper control arms with polyurethane bushings.
Heavy duty sway bar.
Power steering.
4-wheel power disc brakes (Chevy front and Wilwood rear).
Reinforced rear control arms.
Custom square tubing rear transmission mount.
Complete Dana 60 rear differential from Strange Engineering with 3.54:1 Trac Lok gears.
15” American Racing Torque Thrust wheels
General radial tires: 205/70R/15 front and 225/70R/15 rear
Interior:
Stock vinyl bucket seats are in good condition. No evidence of tears or broken seams.
Carpeting looks new.
Dashboard appears to have come from an El Camino.
Dakota Digital dash. All gauges function but the odometer was never calibrated so an accurate mileage is not known.
Aftermarket AM/FM stereo player with 4-speakers was added and works.
NO HEAT OR A/C, all parts were removed.
B&M floor shifter.
All dash light’s function.
