For sale from a private collection is this 2-owner 18,000 original mile 1966 Austin Healey 3000 powered by the legendary 2.9 L I-6 with dual SU carbs rated at 150 horsepower. It was purchased from the original owner over 50 years ago and was restored in the early 1980’s. The Healey was used for weekend drives and car shows. Never in an accident nor driven in poor weather. This is a great driver and not a ‘trailer queen’. Selling for personal reasons.
When the restoration was done and before the ‘Healey Blue’ paint was applied most of the body panels were replaced with fiberglass pieces. Only the hood and doors are the original metal. The frame and floors appear solid and original.
The engine has never been apart, but always well maintained. The only leak is the gasket around the pitman arm of the steering box and the replacement gaskets are included. The 4-speed transmission shifts smoothly and goes into overdrive with a flick of a switch on the dashboard. Factory gear ratio without overdrive is 3.90:1.
The interior was reupholstered as well as a new top, boot, and carpeting when the Healey was restored. You will see a photo of the carpeting out of the car as the owner wants to keep the floors solid when it is stored. All the factory gauges function including the tachometer, speedometer/odometer, fuel, oil pressure, and water temp.
The suspension is stock and the (5) wire wheels were replaced during the restoration. The spokes are stainless steel and the rims are chrome plated. The new radial tires are by Vredestein and measure the factory 15×5.90.
If you are looking for a fun classic British Sports car to drive and enjoy, this Healey should fit your needs.
