According to the owner he is number three and purchased the car in 1987. It sat in his garage until 1996 when he pulled the engine and transmission due to a rear main seal leak. At that time he decided to go through the car and replaced the radiator, transmission cooler, oil pump, shocks, brake system, gas tank with fuel lines, front end parts, rebuild the power steering system, replace a cracked driver’s window, and motor mounts. All this work was completed by early 1998 and the car was only driven on weekends locally.
In 2006 the TBird was once again parked and not until recently was it serviced to drive again. Recently, a new Holley 4150 replacement carburetor and battery were added.
The body appears to have had areas repainted but retains the original Starmist blue color. The passenger and trunk floors are solid as well as the rocker panels and doors.
The interior was reupholstery and carpeted by the prior owner and is in good condition. This includes the padded dashboard. The speedometer/odometer, temperature gauge, and tachometer function. The clock, heater motor, radio, wipers, and gas gauge do not.
Please note there is no convertible top nor any bracing for one.
While driving the ’57 locally would not be an issue, it should be checked over before going on any extended trips. It starts easily, blows a little blue smoke when started cold, but rides like a 1957 Ford Thunderbird.
Selling for personal reasons. Car has a clean and clear Maryland title.
