DESCRIPTION:
1963 Ford Galaxie XL hardtop which has been repainted in a copper metallic with a factory style continental spare tire kit, and vinyl top. Power for this vintage cruiser comes from the original 352 cu in Ford FE V8 and it’s backed by a three speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. It starts easily, rides smoothly, and sounds great with the ‘Smithy’ type mufflers (see video).

History on this Galaxie goes back approximately 20 years and 15,000 miles when the owner purchased it from a friend. According to the owner the stock 352 cu in 220 horsepower, Ford FE motor was rebuilt about 35k miles ago and had the transmission serviced then too. There appear to be no leaks from the engine or transmission. The carburetor has been rebuilt and a Pertronics ignition has been added. The “427” valve covers and decals are strictly for show.
The exterior paint and vinyl top show well. There are some age-related bubbles here and there, but no visible cracking in the body, please view all photos. The exterior chrome and glass appear to be original and in good condition. All exterior lights work.
The interior is very original to the Ford except for seat covers on the front bucket seats and the carpeting. The factory speedometer/odometer and fuel gauge function as well as the ‘rare’ FOMOCO vacuum gauge mounted near the console. The chrome panel mounted below the dash was installed by the prior owner and only the push button start is used, none of the other switches are connected.
As you can see by the photos, it is styled after the 1960’s cruisers with the full ‘Lakes Pipes’, fender skirts, and continental kit. This Galaxie has won numerous awards and draws attention wherever it goes. Great for cruising to shows or just going up for an ice cream.
