The current owner performed a “no expense spared” complete restoration approximately 15 years ago, retaining and rebuilding the vintage Cadillac motor and transmission which had been installed by a prior owner. Other upgrades included a new wiring harness with fuse box, electric fuel pump, 12 volt conversion with an alternator, electronic ignition, vintage Edmunds valve covers, auxiliary oil filter, kill switch on driver’s side floor, headers with dual exhaust, aluminum radiator with thermostatically controlled fans, Vintage Air A/C & heat system (A/C compressor is not included), and a 6-speaker custom sound system with AM/FM radio and a 6 disc CD changer with a 1000 watt amplifier.
The body appears straight and was taken off the frame and totally refinished with new metal panels. The enamel paint still looks good with no evidence of cracking. All the glass is in excellent condition. The power top was replaced and does function but was not tested. All the exterior chrome and stainless were redone. Exterior lights and turn signals function. Please note that some of the chrome (bumpers & grille) has a ‘gold’ hue.
The interior and trunk areas were redone in a red leather with matching carpet. The original gauges were refinished and appear to function normally. Power windows use modern switches and work smoothly.
The suspension was rebuilt to the stock specifications of a ’46 Lincoln with new bushings and ball joints. Other new parts include the brake system with a parking brake and cables; new springs and shocks. The rear differential was rebuilt and retains a 4.22:1 (open) gear ratio. Auburn 7.00 R/15 radial tires ride on painted 15” wheels.
The overall condition of the Lincoln is very good. It rides smoothly, shifts easily and draws attention wherever it goes. It has won a number of awards at local shows and cruise in’s.
