You are viewing for sale a very rare and unusual Street Rod. It is a 1927 Durant Star. The history of the Durant Star was brief, starting in 1921 by Billy Durant (a fired GM executive) and ending in bankruptcy and closing in 1931. He tried his best to compete with the GM but failed miserably. The building where the Durant Star was built later was purchased by GM and was used to build the Oldsmobile and Buick car lines.

What you are seeing is a touring style convertible for four people. The steel body is covered in single-stage urethane red. There are some driving chips and a scratch (see photos). The top is removable and there is a tonneau cover for the back seats to make the car appear like a roadster.
Power comes from a ‘70’s vintage stock 350 c.i. Chevrolet with a Holley 650 cfm carb, Shorty block hugger headers, Edelbrock intake manifold, and an MSD ignition. Transferring the power is a Turbo 350 connected to a 10-bolt Chevy rear differential with disc brakes. Radial tires are 185 x 55 x 15 front and 235 x 75 x 15 rear.
The frame appears to be a custom square tubing item. Up front is a 3” dropped axle with disc brakes. The rear suspension is a single-link welded to the differential with coil-over shocks and rear airbags. The gas tank is located behind the rear seat the filler door is on the rear package shelf.
The interior is vinyl with a short nap carpeting. The tilt steering wheel allows for easy in and out for the driver. All the Dolphin Classic gauges function as normal and the odometer only shows 4700 miles. The car was purchased in 2008 when it only had 3500 miles on it. Seating comfort up front is for a person less than 6’1” and under 250#’s. Although I am told the owner was close to 300#’s and 6’2”. He could only get in without the top on car and stepped over the door.
Included with the car are side curtains which cover the entire length of each side, metal side panels for the hood, and a car cover.
Unfortunately, this car is being sold as part of an estate and there is no documented history. Only what you see in the pictures.

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for since 2002 and maintained a close to a 100% rating during most of that period. Around 2011 I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage.
