DESCRIPTION:
Very rare and restored, numbers matching 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible powered by Chevy’s legendary 427 cu in ‘Big Block’ and backed by a Muncie M-20 wide ratio 4-speed. This car is part of a private collection which is being liquidated. Also, this Impala was purchased at a Mecum auction a number of years ago and unfortunately, no documentation accompanied the purchase.

It appears that this Impala SS had a frame off restoration approximately 9-10 years ago which included the paint & bodywork, top, engine, transmission, rear, brakes, and fuel system. The 66,971 is believed to be the correct mileage on the car. Exact mileage since restoration is estimated at 2,000. This car could have been used as a dealer display model to show potential customers all the options available on an Impala SS.
Options include:
- 427 cu. in. 390 hp V8
- Muncie M-20 wide ratio 4-speed transmission.
- 12-bolt rear differential with 3.55 limited slip differential and sway bar
- Air Condition (which works)
- Power Steering
- Power Brakes
- Tilt wheel
- Power windows
- Trunk release from glovebox
- AM/FM radio
- Gauge cluster
- Tachometer
The Impala was repainted in the original color of Lemonwood Yellow using a 2-stage urethane and had a new black vinyl top with a glass rear window installed. To the naked eye there does not appear to be any bubbling or rust coming through. Chrome appears original and in excellent condition. All the glass is clear.
Everything appears to function as normal including the A/C, power windows, AM/FM radio, etc. Upholstery including door panels and carpeting are in excellent condition
Although the car did probably come with the “SS Wire Wheel Covers” they are not included as well as no boot for the top. The ‘Dog Dish’ hub caps ride on P215/75R/14 radial tires.
