This numbers matching 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T 340 was restored to its original GW3 Bright White paint, black vinyl top, and ‘R/T’ accent striping approximately 12 years ago. It is worth noting the exterior color combination was one of the least ordered on a Dodge Challenger in 1971. It is also apparent the car was garage kept during most of its 76,515-mile life, since most of the body panels appear original as well as some of the interior pieces such as the door panels and dash pad.

All the numbers on the car including the engine, Torque Flight automatic transmission, 3.55 ‘Sure Grip’ 8 ¾ differential, radiator support & cowl stamping (photos upon request), as well as the decoded fender tag match the options on the car.
Shortly after the current owner purchased the car 8 years ago with 66,500 miles, he decided to update and improve the Challenger’s performance and handling.
Specifics are listed below and include a new brake system using discs on the front and drums to the rear, modifications to the 340 engine to raise the horsepower from the factory 275 to approximately 370, adjustable shocks all the way around, and a new exhaust system using Magna Flow mufflers.
This Challenger R/T did come with factory A/C but was changed over to an aftermarket system 5 years ago, manufactured by Bouchillon Performance Engineering. Also, some, of the original parts taken off the car are included with the sale such as the valve covers, and exhaust manifolds. The original intake and carburetor were not on the car when it was purchased.
Noted blemishes are two small ‘bubbles’ on the lower corner of the passenger door (see photo), the A/C does not blow cold air, neither does the original AM radio nor does the clock work. The right rear back up light bulb was replaced after the video.
Overall, this Dodge Challenger is a strong 2 (on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being perfect and 5 being poor). It is a pleasure to drive, draws attention wherever it goes and is a strong performer.
