1957 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Sport Coupe ‘Mild 50’s Custom’ powered by an original 371 c.i. Rocket 88 V-8 with the J2 3×2 barrel intake and carburetors. The present owner has had the car since it was completed 30+ years and 40,000 miles ago. Well maintained, fun to drive, and always draws attention. Everyone loves the look of a ‘Dropped’ 50’s custom.

Recently the 371 V-8 was totally rebuilt along with the Legendary “Hydro-Matic” 4-speed automatic transmission. Please note that this is not an Olds J2 engine and of the 3×2 barrel carbs only the center one functions. Linkage to operate all three carbs is included.
The suspension uses two 24-volt hydraulic motors to raise and lower the car (no ‘bags’) and they are operated by the switches located on the custom-made “stalk” next to the driver. The ‘wide white wall’ tires are 235 / 60R/ 14’s and have about 2k miles on them. There are 5 batteries (one to start the car, four for the lifts) located in a custom metal box in the trunk along with a battery charger (see photos). The batteries are believed to be 2-years old. Additionally, there are 2” lowering blocks located in the rear.
The body and 2-stage urethane paint are in excellent condition for being 30+ years old (see photos). No apparent bubbling or rust is coming through the body and the chrome is fantastic. The floors and frame are solid. In the way of additional bodywork, the only section which was replaced is a small area of the floor behind the front seat. Otherwise, the Olds appears solid.
Custom touches include being ‘Nosed & Decked’ and shaved door handles. The glass is excellent showing no evidence of ‘fogging’. ‘Blue Dot’ taillights and a ‘Continental kit’ add the finishing touches.
In the way of options, the Olds has power-steering, period-correct vinyl roll & pleat upholstery which has no tears or broken seams, new carpeting, AM/FM cassette player, drum brakes (recently serviced), and heat. Electrically, everything appears to work including the turn signals, headlights, interior dome light, factory gauges speedometer, and odometer. There are no wipers. The lock mechanisms so you open the doors the ‘50’s way……by grabbing the door handle through the vent window.
You will also notice a “Flame Thrower” system on the exhaust tips. This has been disconnected, but the boxes and wiring are still in place.
It’s time for someone else to enjoy the Oldsmobile!!!

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for since 2002 and maintained a close to a 100% rating during most of that period. Around 2011 I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage.
