Beautiful and quick 1959 Chevrolet Corvette ‘Street Machine/RestoMod’ painted in a traditional 1958 Chevy Tropical Turquoise with matching Naugahyde roll & pleated interior.

Power comes from a 383 c.i. ‘Stroker’ V-8 Chevy with aluminum heads, a ‘lumpy’ hydraulic cam, Stainless Steel headers & exhaust, and Edelbrock (2) Four-barrel intake manifold. Conservative estimation on the horsepower is 400+.

Backing the ‘Stroker’ is an A-833 New Process aluminum 4-speed overdrive transmission. These items came standard in 1980-85 Chevrolet ½ ton 2-wheel drive trucks. They are great cruising transmissions having an 11” clutch, a first gear ratio of 3.09, and a fourth of 0.73. Finally, the stock 1959 rear differential houses 3.36:1 (open) gears.

The interior is in perfect condition and all of the factory gauges including the ‘tach-drive’ tachometer function normally. The prior owner added the AM/FM/Cassette player mounted in the dash. The trunk was also carpeted in the same material as the interior along with a custom spare tire cover.

It is estimated the car had a frame-off restoration which was completed about 11 years and 2000 miles ago. There is ONLY a convertible top, NO hardtop. The present owner has replaced the following items which have less than 200 miles on them. They include a NEW fuel tank, lines from tank to front, electric fuel pump, braided lines, fuel gauge, starter, dual master cylinder, rebuilt shift linkage, and a 4-wheel hydraulic parking brake.

    Body & Paint

  • 2-stage urethane Tropical Turquoise. It does appear that the body was taken off of the frame when it was originally built 11 years ago.
  • White convertible top in excellent condition.
  • Chrome is excellent, only a couple of ‘pits’ show through the right rear taillight.
    Engine & Transmission

  • Chevrolet 383 c.i. stroked V-8
  • Compression ratio is approximately 9.5:1 & runs on pump gas
  • Hydraulic cam
  • Mallory dual point distributor w/Moroso wires.
  • Chrome alternator
  • Oversized radiator w/shroud and car does not overheat.
  • Edelbrock Aluminum heads & intake manifold
  • (2) Edelbrock 500 CFM carburetors
  • Stainless Steel headers and exhaust system (slight leak on driver’s side from header, see video)
  • GM New Process 4-speed overdrive transmission w/0.73 fourth gear.
    Chassis

  • 4-Wheel (non-power) disc brakes
  • 17” Polished American Torque Thrust wheels w/ 225 x 45R x 17 B.F. Goodrich tires
  • Rebuilt stock front-end and non-power steering.
  • Rebuilt stock (open) rear differential.
