Sold & transported from Perry Hall, MD to San Francisco, CA. Beautifully detailed 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu COPO (Central Office Production Order) 427 Tribute. This Chevelle was built as a representative of a bygone era where you could special order just about any engine combination in a Chevelle, Camaro, or Nova in any model configuration.
NO TRADES
This “frame-on” project took approximately 4 years to complete and started with a basic V8 and air-conditioned Malibu. The transformation to a COPO includes a period correct and professionally built 427 cu. in. big block Chevy boasting in excess of 600 h.p., which runs on pump gas and is backed by a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Completing the drive line is a 12-bolt rear differential running 3.73:1 posi-traction gears.
PLEASE NOTE….ALL BIDS AND OFFERS MADE ON ANY VEHICLE(S) WILL FOLLOW EBAY’S PROTOCOL OF PURCHASING. THIS MEANS THAT ONCE THE BID OR OFFER IS MADE OR ACCEPTED THE BUYER AGREES TO PURCHASE THE CAR IN “AS IS” CONDITION.
- The all-steel body is very straight and has little to no known bodywork except for the replacement of the left rear quarter panel. The paint is a single stage urethane enamel. The underside is as solid and clean as the body without any rust issues or “bondo”.(Please look at all photos carefully).
- The exterior chrome and glass are in very good condition for being original. There is no bubbling or fog in the glass.
- The interior bucket seats were redone in a traditional vinyl pattern as well as new carpeting and headliner. The factory gauges and dash lights function as well as the additional Summit tachometer and Auto Meter voltage, oil pressure, and water temperature gauges. Additionally, a Kenwood 4-speaker sound system with a trunk mounted amplifier was added should someone wish to listen to music instead of the rumble of the big block.
- The 427 engine was decked, align honed, and Magni fluxed. Internally, the rods, pistons, and crank are balanced forged items with 11:1 compression ratio. The iron heads were ported and had a multi-angle valve job performed. The cam is a hydraulic “Thumper” flat tappet; ignition is by HEI, with a Holley double pumper sitting on an original “snow flake” Winters aluminum intake manifold. Headers are by Hooker with 2 ½” exhaust running through Flowmaster mufflers to the rear.
- Wheel and tire combination consists of Chrome 15″ Rally Wheels with Cooper P245/60R/15 radial tires.
- Please note that the air-conditioning system was not reinstalled, but the sale includes the original brackets, hoses, and evaporator to connect the system. Only a compressor needs to be purchased. Also included is a new power brake booster with front spindle assemblies to convert the car over to power brakes.
- This COPO tribute Chevelle runs as strong as it looks and draws attention wherever it goes. You will not be disappointed in its performance and appearance.
- Owner selling because of too many toys.
