  • The GTO was purchased out of the south approximately 10 years ago when the 5+ year restoration began. Unfortunately, the owner passed away and the estate is selling the car as presented. It is about 95% complete, it does run, comes with a clear title, and some photos of the build. Very few receipts are available since the owner did most of the work himself, but a complete PHS report comes with the car noting the original color, interior, and options. Below are more specifics.
  • The body has had just about every panel replaced. There is no evidence of rust or bubbling anywhere. Starting with the inner fender wells both front and rear, the trunk and passenger compartment floors, complete rear quarter panels, firewall, cowl, rocker panels, roof, door skins, and front fenders. All panels were welded in place. The burgundy paint is a 2-stage urethane, and it looks good for a streetcar. There are a few chips from reassembling the car (see photos).
  • The exterior stainless-steel trim around the windows and wheel wells are new. All new glass with weather stripping and ‘fuzzies’ in the window channels.
  • Recently a completely new interior including dash pad, front & rear seats upholstered, door panels, carpeting, arm rests, and headliner. The only pieces missing in the interior are the rear ‘sail’ panels which were on back-order with no delivery date. New inner rear window trim is included and can be installed, once the panels are put in.
  • The factory gauges appear to function including the tachometer, speedometer, and temperature gauge. There is no radio with the car.
  • Electrically the GTO retains much of the original wiring harness. The wipers, lights, and turn signals function, but the complete system should be checked.
  • The 400 cu. in. engine is from the late 60’s running 10:1 compression ratio pistons, hydraulic cam, Edelbrock Performer Aluminum heads, Pertronics ignition, Power Master high torque starter, original Pontiac Tri-Power intake, carburetors, and linkage, custom radiator, and Jet Hot coated Doug’s headers. There is no exhaust system. Fuel tank and lines are all new.
  • The transmission appears to have been inspected and is a 1971 M-20 unit. New clutch pack assembly was also added.
  • The entire frame was media blasted and painted gloss black before all new front and rear suspension components were installed. Including bushings, springs, shocks, and sway bar. The rear differential houses the stock 3.55:1 posi-traction gears. A new power brake system was added with discs up front and drums in the rear. The 8-year-old Sincera GT radial tires (which have almost ‘0’ miles on them) measure 225/70R/15 front and 275/70R/15 rear.
