For sale by a private owner is this very original 1966 Ford Mustang convertible powered by its matching 289 cu. in., 2-barrel, V-8 engine rated at 200 bhp. It is backed by Ford’s famous C-4 three-speed automatic transmission and (open) 2.80:1, 8” differential. Options include power steering and ‘owner installed’ A/C (does not work).

Present owner purchased the car from its original owner in 1982 when it had 72,091 miles on the odometer…..as you can see it now has only 74,683. Yes, only 2600 miles in 33 years. It has been garage kept the entire time and only occasionally driven around the neighborhood.
Although the car was repainted in its original ‘Springtime Yellow’ over 35 years ago, surface ‘bubbling’ does show, there does not appear to be any bodywork in the car from replacement panels or accidents. The ‘torque boxes’ look in good condition, as well as the floor pans. A new gas tank was added some years ago because it started to leak in the garage.
Besides looking at the photos and viewing the video, here are my observations.
All the original tags and stampings show clearly on the fenders, including the ‘bug tag’ (see photo).
The engine does start (see video), but it will need some work including a new battery, valves adjusted, and a rebuilt carburetor (slight leak).
Regarding the body, rust is showing on the exterior of the front fenders and doors as well as the underside of the doors. Rocker panels look solid. The floors are in good condition. Power top does operate smoothly, but the material shows its age.
Glass is original and goes up and down easily. No fogging or chips are apparent.
The owner installed new brakes over 20 years ago and currently the rear drums are locked so driving video was not available.
Electrically the exterior taillights, turn signals, brake lights, wipers, etc. function normally. Interior dash lights work, but courtesy lights in the doors do not. The only interior gauge which does not work is the fuel level. Everything else, including the speedo/odometer and radio function.
The original ‘luxury’ interior appears to only show wear on the driver’s seat with broken seams. Carpeting and seatbelts (front & rear) are original.

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for more than 19 years and maintained a 100% rating during most of that period. Approximately 10 years ago I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles on the internet without them leaving the garage.
