Sold and transported from Mt. Airy, MD to Indianapolis, IN
DESCRIPTION:
1966 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 350 (SFM6S1399) in Guardsman blue with white stripes, powered by the numbers matching 289 cu. in. Ford Windsor putting out 306 horsepower and backed by a Toploader 4-speed. This Shelby has been certified by SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club) and includes all documentation.
The original owner ordered the GT 350 from Nagle Ford in Rochester, NY on 3/16/1966 and took delivery on 4/14/1966. It was ordered with the aluminum wheels and radio delete. They owned the car up until 1993 when the car was willed to their daughter and showing only 52,000 miles. She kept it until 2013 when it was auctioned at Mecum in Indianapolis, IN. Since then, it has been in a private collection and rarely driven. The current actual mileage on the car is 54,590.
In 1993 at the Watkins Glen, NY SAAC-18 meet this car was selected by Carroll Shelby as the #1 survivor and is signed in the trunk lid (see photo).
The current overall condition of the car is very good. Recently, all the fluids were changed, brake system was serviced with new lines and master cylinder (disc front and drums rear), a tune up, and the carburetor was rebuilt.
The 289 is as original as it was when Shelby Motors modified it. It starts easily, idles smoothly, and performs well. No smoke.
It appears that the original owners had the car repainted at some point and it shows some age. Also, there appears to be a section on the right rear quarter panel which was repaired possibly due to an accident. Most of the other body panels appear original. All the glass is in excellent condition as well as the chrome. Please view all photos carefully.
The interior appears original and in very good condition. No evidence of tears or broken seams. The Shelby seatbelts are in excellent condition and lock. All the factory gauges function as well as the optional fog lights.
The chassis looks stock and original from Shelby with the reinforced torque boxes and traction bars. It appears to have had routine maintenance performed over the years.
