Engine & Transmission:
396 cu. in. Chevy engine with a mild hydraulic cam, MSD billet distributor with Blaster coil, 375 hp Winters aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock 700 cfm carburetor, stock exhaust manifolds with 2 ½” exhaust and FlowMaster mufflers.
The M-20 4-speed transmission is believed to be original to the car appears rebuilt, and uses a Hurst shifter.
Body & Paint:
The original color of the car was Marina Blue, but now it sports a 2-stage dark blue metallic paint job. The floors in the trunk were replaced and there appears to have been some bodywork above each rear fender panel. The passenger floors appear original. There is no evidence of bubbling or rust only a couple of chips and a ‘dipple’ in the hood from a tall carburetor stud. Please note the windshield is cracked.
The exterior chrome is in fair to good condition. The vent window frames do have some pitting.
The top is in excellent condition and is believed to be original. There is no ‘boot’ for when the top is down. It goes up and down easily (see video).
Interior:
The white seats are original and in excellent condition. The door panels, and dash are also original and in good condition. The carpeting was replaced when the rebuild was done. The factory and aftermarket gauges function, only the console clock does not work.
Chassis:
The entire suspension appears to have been redone including the power brake system (discs front and drums rear), springs, shocks, ball joints, tie rod and sway bar ends. The bushings are polyurethane. The stock front upper control arms were replaced with custom tubular pieces. New body mounts with rubber gromets were also installed. The 12-bolt rear differential looks rebuilt and is running 3.31:1 posi-traction gears.
Overall, this SS 396 Convertible is in excellent condition. It performs well, starts easily, runs strong, and draws attention wherever it goes. It is rare that you find a one-owner 60’s muscle car.
