Beautiful 1964 ½ Ford Mustang coupe produced in April 1964 (27D). The car had a complete nut & bolt rotisserie restoration 29 years ago shortly after the current owner received the car from a family member’s estate. It turns out this car has been in the same family since it was new. Originally bought in North Dakota and shipped out of the (52 code) Des Moines, Iowa district.

Every attempt has been made to keep this #’s matching (D code) 289 c.i., 210 h.p., (5 code) 4-speed, Mustang as it was when it came from the factory.
During the engine rebuild the 289 was treated to new bearings, blueprinting, and balancing. Along with a slightly more aggressive hydraulic cam and dual exhaust to give a little more muscle. Valves with hardened seats were used in the cylinder heads so it can run on today’s gas. Also, a PCV valve system was added, but the original ‘road draft’ tube is included. The entire fuel system from the gas tank to the fuel filter was replaced. The original Ford Autolight 4-barrel carburetor, points type ignition, and generator were retained.
Although the odometer shows the actual mileage of 98,000, the last 1,000 were added after the restoration.
Most of the original body panels were used, including the hood, doors, and trunk lid. New torque boxes and lower rear quarter panels were welded in place. Glass and rear bumper are original. Car was repainted the original (V code) Sunshine Yellow in 2-stage urethane. You will notice a few chips here and there, but the car still looks great and has always been garage kept. Please look at all photos and the video carefully and feel free to ask questions.
The interior seats and carpeting were reupholstered and replaced to the matching (46) white vinyl with black trim. The original shift console, headliner, door panels, dash pad, kick panels, and seatbelts were retained. It is not known when the GT tachometer and clock cluster was added, but it was retained for the restoration. Tach works, but the clock does not. It should be also noted the factory radio does not work, but an aftermarket AM/FM unit was added in the glove box.
The entire suspension, which includes the steering, shocks, and springs was rebuilt from front to rear and still retains the (1 code) 3.00:1 open 8” differential, 14” wheels (radial tires), and drum brakes.

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for more than 19 years and maintained a 100% rating during most of that period. More than 10 years ago, I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles on the internet without them leaving the garage. These are private, individual owners who do not want to deal with the public and all the endless phone calls, “Tire kickers,” and other nonsense that goes on when trying to sell a car. They just want someone to sell it!!
