The body was stripped, block sanded, and painted to give a straight and mirror finish using a single stage urethane black. The 1967 red ‘stinger’ hood was added for a true “muscle car” flare and the rear fenders were replaced, adding a 2-inch bulge to accommodate the Nitto Drag radials. All glass, chrome, and trim are either new or polished, including weather stripping and window felt.

The 427 cu. in. Chevy uses a cast iron Dart block with a forged stroker crank and 10.0:1 pistons with ported Dart aluminum heads and intake manifold. The cam is a custom ground Comp Cams solid roller. It is topped with a Holley 950 cfm double pumper carburetor and is fired by an MSD billet distributor. 12-point stainless steel bolts were used throughout the engine for added detail. The headers have a ‘baked on’ black finish and connect to a complete N11 off-road exhaust system. To keep the engine cool is a custom Dewitt aluminum radiator with thermostatically controlled electric fans.

The new interior has refurbished gauges including a tach driven tachometer, 160 mph speedometer, water temp, oil pressure, fuel level, voltmeter, radio, and clock. The seats are Top Flight Automotive items which allow for a taller person to sit comfortably. Vintage Air A/C & heat was added for creature comfort. The fuse box and wiring are all Lectric Limited items. Additional wiring for the fans and ignition box are mounted under the passenger seat. A Hurst shifter handles the Muncie M-23 4-speed transmission. The first gear ratio of the transmission is 2.99:1.

The rear differential is a rare Tom’s Differentials unit which has larger half-shafts and houses 4.10:1 and a 12 bolt Chevy posi-traction carrier. Up front is a heavy-duty sway bar with power steering and for stopping there are 4-wheel power disc brakes. The bolt on knock-off wheels in the rear were custom made 8” rims to handle the 275/60R/15 Nitto Drag radial tires and Michelin 205/70/R15 are up front.

The only “blemish” is a small cut in the driver’s door panel from a miss location of the door handle. See photo.
