Unfortunately, the exact history of the car is not known, only that it had been in the same family since the 1990’s and it has had one exterior repaint in lacquer.
Recent work includes a new fuel pump, flushing the fuel system, rebuilt carburetor, battery, aluminum radiator (original is included), servicing of the brakes. Exhaust system looks to have been replaced recently.
The DeVille starts easily and runs well. Electrically all the dash lights, turn signals, headlights, power windows, high beams, wipers, radio works on AM stations, and some of the inside courtesy lights function.
Some of what needs attention include the A/C system, clock, trunk light, hood light, and the power seat (motor runs and seat only tilts).
The body appears fairly sold with only a little body work in the passenger door area. The floors are okay; a piece of metal was put in place on the passenger side floor. Trunk area shows surface scale, but no holes. All of the chrome is in place; some pieces have pitting others just scratches.
Glass looks clear without any fogging and only the right rear passenger window needs a little ‘help’ going up.
The interior shows as you see it. There is some sun damage.
Chassis and suspension are stock. Shocks and springs look to have been replaced at some point.
Overall, this ’61 DeVille just needs a little TLC to make it a cruiser to the local shows and events. The car is great for someone looking to customize or restore it.
