1959 “Nash” (Rambler) Metropolitan powered by the original 1.5 L I4, rated at about 48 hp, and backed by it’s matching 3-speed manual transmission. The Metro was completely taken apart and had a ‘nut & bolt’ restoration less than 500 miles and three years ago. It is a multiple show winner, starts and runs great, as well as has some modern upgrades for safety and comfort.

  • This is the IV generation of Metro which was built by the Austin Motor Company in England and sold through Nash which became Rambler, which became AMC. The main change in the Gen IV models was the addition of a trunk lid. All earlier models had access behind the front seat.
  • The original color was Canyon red and white. It is now a Ford Candy apple red and white 2-stage urethane. The areas of any bodywork include the lower rear quarter panels and rockers. Replacement metal was used for all repairs. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being perfect, it is a -9. Please note the driver’s door hinge has a slight sag and needs some adjustment.
  • All the chrome has been redone and looks fantastic, the glass is in excellent condition and goes up and down easily. A custom made tinted and faded windshield was also installed. New weather stripping, gas tank, fuel & brake lines, and wiring were also installed.
  • The 1.5 L I4 was rebuilt as well as the 3-speed column shift transmission, clutch pack, and rear differential.
  • The suspension was restored to stock except for Wilwood disc brakes on the front with a dual bail master cylinder mounted under the driver’s side floor.
  • The interior was also upgraded to a better-quality vinyl with a ‘roll & pleated’ pattern. All the factory gauges function as well as the tube-style AM radio. There are no tears, broken seams, or stains in the upholstery or carpeting. The horn does not work.
  • This Metro is show read and a blast to drive. It grabs attention everywhere it goes.
  • Owner selling for personal reasons.
