Original 1957 Chevrolet Corvette powered by the numbers matching 283 cu. in. / 250 h.p. engine with the numbers matching fuel injection and backed by the original 2-speed Power glide transmission.

The current owner purchased the car approximately 8 years ago from a ‘dealer’ in the Northeast, and it came with no papers or documentation. It is believed to have not come with a soft top and the hardtop has been reconditioned and remains boxed up. No photos were taken since it was not opened, but it does come with the car. Current mileage shows to be 104,000 and it is believed that somewhere during its ownership the car had the driveline, suspension, and some of the chrome rebuilt or replaced.

A phone call was made to the Corvette registry and it is believed a fuel-injected 283/250 h.p. backed by a Power glide automatic transmission was rare and they only had a record of 3 cars in existence; this made number 4.

I know everyone talks about “numbers matching” all the time, and I will admit that I am not a Corvette expert, but the car was evaluated by a well-respected shop (Tony’s Corvette Shop, in Gaithersburg, MD) and this is their evaluation.

It is a fuel-injected; automatic Corvette painted in its original Polo white with a silver cove. The lacquer paint is a repaint and shows some age with ‘crow’s feet’ in areas (see photos). Most of the chrome is original with some parts like the rear bumper and emblems being re-plated or replaced. All of the body panels and bonding strips are original and still in place. The car does not appear to have been in any serious accidents, the only spot that shows some repair is the left front marker light area.

The entire report will, of course, go with the car when it is sold.

The ’57 starts easily and runs great. It’s a pleasure to drive.
