From the trim tag this Chevy was built in the Van Nuys, CA plant and probably spent most of its time on the west coast. The current owner purchased the car shortly after it had a ‘frame-on’ restoration almost 30 years ago. It has only been driven 22,000 miles in that time frame and has always been kept in the garage.
The present owner also switched out the factory 2-speed Power Glide transmission in favor of a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed. The correct clutch pedal assembly and bell housing were used. The original transmission and parts are included with the sale.
PAINT & BODY: For almost a 30-year-old 2-stage paint job it looks great. There is some bubbling in the lower corners of both doors, and a few ‘touch ups’, but that’s it (see photos). The glass is in very good condition and the windows operate smoothly as well as the hardtop “flippers”. All the chrome and stainless trim are in good to excellent condition with only a few scratches on the rear bumper and guards. Rear taillights are LED.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: The stock 283 cu in V8 runs smoothly and does not show any leaks or smoke. The Factory Rochester Carb still retains its ID tag. The BW T-10 shifts easily with the backup lights operating by a toggle switch under the dash (note they were on in the video). Mufflers and gas tank look like they were recently replaced and the battery is new.
CHASSIS: Stock suspension appears to have been refreshed with new front bushings, wheel bearings, brakes, rear springs, and shocks. Stock rear differential is running 3.36:1 open gears. Tires are by B.F. Goodrich Silvertown 4-ply 7.50/14D.
INTERIOR: Upholstery, carpeting, dash, headliner, door panels are all in excellent condition. Factory gauges function. Radio did work but was disconnected in favor of a Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette player mounted in the glove box. Floor shift is by Hurst. Clock does not work.
