Beautiful and restored 1956 Buick Special Riviera two-door hardtop with 88,000 original miles. Power comes from factory 322 c.i. “Fireball V-8” rated at 220 h.p. and backed by its matching Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission.

The Riviera has been in the same family for almost 40 years and always well-maintained and garage-kept. According to the owner, the restoration was done in the late 1980s and the body has little to no bodywork and no visible bubbling or rust anywhere. The Buick was repainted in acrylic enamel in the original Dover White and Cambridge Blue two-tone. It looks fantastic.
According to the trim tag, the Buick was built in Wilmington, DE, and comes with the optional “Safety Group”. This includes backup lights, parking brake indicator, glare-proof interior mirror, and dash pad.
The 322 c.i. “Nail Head” Buick V-8 runs strong and stays cool. It should be noted that the carburetor may need to be rebuilt because it is a little difficult to start when it is cold. Also, there is a small exhaust leak on the passenger side around the exhaust manifold and head pipe area. Otherwise, no known issues.
The Chrome and stainless trim are 96% ‘Show quality’ with only two small, blemished areas and some dullness on the vent window trim (see photos).
With the interior, the seats and carpets were redone in the original material and color. There are no apparent holes or tears in the upholstery. The door panels and dash pad are original and look excellent. The tinted windows are also original and in good operating condition. Some of the glass is showing its age, with the tint receding near the edges. The front windshield has a small nick near the top of the trim (see photo). All the factory gauges function and light except for the radio and clock.
Chassis and suspension were done when the car was restored, and routine maintenance has been performed over the years making the Buick a pleasure to drive.
Included with the Riviera are books, manuals, and sales advertising pertaining to this model of Buick (see photo).
