1955 Ford Fairlane 4 Door Town Sedan powered by the original 272 cu. in “Y” block V-8 rated at 162 h.p. and backed by Ford’s Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission.

NO TRADES

History on the Ford only goes back to the late 1990s, but it is believed to have spent most of its life in North Carolina. In 2011 the current owner purchased the car and brought it to Maryland. The outside and inside cosmetic appearance of the Fairlane is as you see it today. Mechanically, the Ford needed some attention.

All new suspension parts including front end bushings, shocks, tie rod ends, kingpin, brakes (including shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and hardware) were replaced.

The original 272 V-8 runs smoothly and the Cruise-O-Matic shifts fine. The 2-barrel carburetor should be rebuilt. Car sometimes shuts off when going into gear. The engine is stock except for the addition of dual exhaust with ‘Smitty’ style mufflers. The sound is perfect for a traditional 50’s style Ford. During the 10 years of ownership, the Ford has been driven on several 200- and 300-mile trips without any issues.

The Town Sedan still retains the original 6V charging system and all the interior lights and gauges function normally. The outside headlights, turn signals, brake lights, etc work fine too.

The paintwork is estimated to have been done some time in the 1990s and still looks good for a streetcar. Whoever did the restoration used a 1956 Ford hood. The only difference is the hood ornament. There are a few areas that have some ‘crows’ feet’ and small bubbles on the bottom of the doors as well as along the tops of the rear fender wells (see photos). The driver’s window has a small crack at the bottom. The window still goes up and down without issue.

Exterior chrome and stainless are in excellent condition and show little to no scratches or pits.

Interior was probably done about the same time as the paint job and is holding up nicely. No apparent tears or rips and little to no wear. It is not an original pattern or material for the Ford but does go along with the color theme.

Tires are an older set of 15″ “Silvertown” 4 ply nylon wide whitewalls from Coker. They should probably be updated

Additional parts such as a carburetor, fuel pumps, and hub caps are included (see photo).

PLEASE BUY WITH CONFIDENCE

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for since 2002 and maintained a close to a 100% rating during most of that period. Around 2011 I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage. These are private individual owners who do not want to deal with the public and all of the endless phone calls, “Tire kickers”, and other nonsense that goes on when trying to sell a car. They just want someone to sell it!!
