Shown for sale is this stunning Lincoln Capri Convertible which underwent a ‘frame on’ restoration in 1997. According to the owner, the mileage of 24,000 is actual and the car is on its third owner. The Lincoln originated in Chicago where the original was a widow who kept it in her garage and rarely drove the car. Since the restoration, there have only been 2,000 miles logged on the Capri. It is estimated that approximately 2000 Capri convertibles were manufactured and less than 400 are still in existence.

The current owner changed the original color (Columbia Blue) to a 1956 Lincoln color of Wisteria light violet. He also had the entire interior redone, including new padding and spring repair, in the 1956 pattern. In the way of bodywork, the rocker panels were repaired using metal replacement items. All other body panels are original. Receipts for all of the work performed are included.
The stock 317 c.i. / 205 h.p. OHV V-8 was serviced and inspected when the restoration took place. It was believed that the engine did not need to be rebuilt because of showing little to no wear on the rocker arms and crank bearings. During the restoration, the power brake system, power steering, the electrical system, including the power seat, windows, and power top motor were rebuilt and operate as new. The AM radio and power antenna also work, but the clock does not. The factory gauges also work as they did originally. In the video, you will notice that the left brake light did not work, the bulb has been replaced and it works fine. The six-volt charging system is still in place.
All of the windows are the original factory tinted items, the new Haartz cloth top has a plexiglass rear window. Exterior chrome was either replated or replaced with NOS items.
The original 4-speed Hydromatic, automatic transmission was rebuilt too and shifts smoothly. There does appear to be a leak around the transmission pan which has been addressed several times, but still exists.
The original suspension was totally rebuilt with new shocks, bushings, tie rod ends, and king pin. To keep the original style owner selected factory style wide white wall tires which are 4 ply (not radial) 15 x 8.5.
This Classic Capri convertible has been a true show winner and attention grabber at all local car shows and cruise events. You will not be disappointed.

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for since 2002 and maintained a close to a 100% rating during most of that period. Around 2011 I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage. These are private individual owners who do not want to deal with the public and all of the endless phone calls, “Tire kickers”, and other nonsense that goes on when trying to sell a car. They just want someone to sell it!!
