1949 Chevrolet 3100 5-window Resto-Mod, Hot Rod painted Tangerine Cream and Mango Orange with pearl and built using a Chevrolet S-10 chassis. Power comes from a supercharged 400 cu. in. BODY & PAINT: When the truck was purchased 17 years ago it already had the S-10 chassis installed, but the owner/builder decided to start over adding a new bed with wooden inserts, 13-gallon gas tank, custom tailgate and taillights, ‘frenched’ headlights, rear roll pan, and shaved door handles (open with door poppers). The 2-stage urethane “House of Color” paint was then applied.
There appears to be no rust or bubbling anywhere. Side and rear windows are tinted (no cracks or chips). The chrome grille and bumper look perfect.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: Professionally built blown small block starting with a 400 cu. in. DART block, Brodix aluminum heads, Whipple supercharger putting out 7# of boost with a Holley 750 cfm Double-pumper carburetor. PowerMaster alternator and high torque starter, MSD ignition, Holley electric fuel pump, and a HD aluminum radiator w/electric fan. Hooker headers with 2 ½” exhaust and FlowMaster mufflers
The transmission is a 350 Turbo from ATI with a 2800 rpm stall convertor, B&M shifter and trans-cooler with an electric fan.
CHASSIS: Chevrolet S-10 frame with 4-wheel power disc brakes and stock manual steering. The 9” Ford rear uses 31-spline axles and a Detroit locker with 3.20:1 gears. Traction bars are by Caltracs. Wheels are 15” Weld Wheels with 215/65R/15 front and 29×18 Mickey Thompson S/R Sport Comp rear tires.
INTERIOR: Custom bucket seats with ‘real’ Alligator sections surrounded by beige vinyl. Velour shifter boot, arm rests, and headliner sections. Tilt steering wheel. Custom dashboard with AutoMeter C2 gauges (tachometer, speedometer/odometer, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel boost and voltmeter). Please note the speedometer/odometer has not worked since the build was completed. Mileage is estimated. Custom console houses a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo system with 4-speakers including two behind the seats. Sounds great.
SUMMARY: This is a very reliable and strong performing truck which can be driven anywhere. The paint is in very good condition with only a few chips. The body is solid and straight. Door, hood, and body gaps are okay. The interior does show some age around the bottom of the seats, but no tears, broken seams, or rips.
