- The current owner received the car as part of an estate where it had been sitting in a garage (with a concrete floor) for at least 35+ years. There was a lot of exterior scale on the paint, but it has been sanded off.
- Some of the paint appears to be original and only a few areas in the passenger side rocker panels show any bodywork. Most of the Olds is solid. Glass goes up and down easily, there is a small “bullet” hole on the passenger side front windshield near the 1956-57 Virginia inspection sticker. Otherwise the glass looks ok.
- The engine was cleaned up and had the gas tank and fuel lines refurbished. It was not rebuilt and blows a small amount of blue smoke when it is cold. It still runs a 6-volt system and idles perfectly. An after-market aluminum radiator has been added and all the hoses and belts have been replaced (original radiator is included). Wiring appears to be original. Headlights work and one taillight. No brake lights and the Olds did not come with turn signals.
- In the interior the dash, door panels, and headliner appear to be original. Upholstery and carpeting were done by a friend. The factory oil pressure, voltmeter, water temperature and speedometer function. The clock, radio, and fuel gauge do not work. Defroster tube is not connected, and it is unknown if the heater works.
- The undercarriage was cleaned and painted with POR15. The frame and springs look solid. The original ‘knee-action’ shocks should be rebuilt. The brake system was replaced with new lines and hardware using the original style drums front and rear.
- This is an ideal vintage treasure which would not take much to bring it back to stock or a great candidate for a street rod.
