- This is an all-steel body and bed painted in “Hot Rod Flat Black”, not primer. There is no evidence of rust coming through, but there are a few ‘pits’ in the bed which were not filled (see photos). All exterior lights including the turn signals and brake lights work. Glass is in good condition and windows roll up and down easily.
- The 355 Chevy engine was rebuilt about 3 years (and less than 3,000 miles) ago with new freeze plugs, bearings, and gaskets. It has a forged crank and dish pistons with 8.5:1 compression ratio, which is ideal for a supercharger. A 5-angle valve job was done and the hydraulic flat tappet cam with roller rocker arms gives the Chevy a nice rumble. Up top is a Weiand single-carburetor tunnel ram manifold with a 650-cfm double pumper Holley carb. The ignition uses a Pertronics Flamethrower distributor and coil. Fender well style headers were Jet-Hot coated with FlowMaster mufflers exiting to each side of the pickup.
- The stainless steel fuel cell in the bed measures 20-gallons and a Holley ‘blue’ electric fuel pump with braid lines delivers the fuel to the Holley carb.
- The Turbo 350 was also rebuilt when the engine was done and had a shift kit and 2500 stall converter added. A B&M shifter is used to put it through the gears.
- The rear differential is a narrowed Chrysler 8.75 with 3.70:1 posi-traction gears. The front part of the frame is from a Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The back half is the stock ’46 Chevrolet with narrowed frame rails. The brakes are non-power discs front with drums in the rear. There is no parking brake. The tires measure 165/60/15 front and 31/16/15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman in the back.
- The interior uses bucket seats from a Malibu which have been recovered with a ‘4-leaf clover’ design which matches the tonneau cover. All the Dolphin gauges and Auto Meter monster tach function. Only the speedometer and odometer do not work. A cable was never connected, so the mileage is an estimate. A Vintage Air heat and A/C control was installed to regulate the heat and there are connections if you wanted to add an A/C system. A Honda AM/FM/cassette player was added with speakers mounted in the headliner.
- A fitted car cover is included.
- The Pickup is a blast to drive, runs cool, and draws attention wherever it goes.
- Owner selling for personal reasons.
