DESCRIPTION:
1936 Auburn “Boat Tail” Speedster replica built by California Coach Works in 1985. It is being sold as part of an estate so the complete history of the vehicle is not known. Current mileage shows 11,500 and it is titled as a 1985 Auburn. Title has a brand of “Reconstruction” since it was a custom-built vehicle.

The present owner has had the Auburn since 2013 and removed the original 305 cu. in. GM engine and added a 400+ horsepower 383 cu in ‘stroker’ Chevrolet V8 backed by a Turbo 350 automatic transmission and 10-bolt GM rear differential. Mileage since the modifications is estimated at 2,000.
The ‘stroker’ V8 has been treated to a hydraulic roller cam & rocker arms, Edelbrock intake, Holley carburetor, HEI ignition, Edelbrock aluminum heads, custom radiator with electric fan, and coated headers.
A Vintage Air A/C and heat unit was installed but there is no compressor. The rest of the interior is done in a beautiful red vinyl with Classic aftermarket speedometer/odometer, water temperature, fuel level, fuel pressure, oil pressure, and voltmeter. All in good working condition. Additionally, a premium stereo system was installed with 6-speakers, an amplifier, and 6 count CD changer.
The suspension is from a 1980’s mid-sized GM sedan (Buick or Oldsmobile) with power steering, power disc brakes (disc front & drums rear), and front & rear swaybars. The Auburn rides on Triumph Radial 1200 235/75R/15 radial tires.
The fiberglass body is in very good condition except for a couple of chips and a small crack (see photos). There is a crack on the right hand side of the windshield. Otherwise, the red & black enamel paint shows well. All exterior lights and turn signals function, as well as the dashboard lights.
Please note that this Auburn does not come with a top nor any of the hardware. The current owner removed them and they were discarded.
This Auburn starts and runs great, draws attention wherever it goes and is a real “Road Rocket” with the 400+ horsepower V8.
