BODY & PAINT: The Chevy was painted in its current black lacquer before the owner bought the car (over 50 years ago) and it still polishes up well. There appears to be little to no rust and or evidence of bodywork anywhere. The cloth insert in the roof is still in excellent condition. Due to the age of the paint there are a number of areas with “crows feet” (view photos). Chrome is in very good condition, certain windows show a few bubbles on the edge but operate smoothly and have no cracks or chips.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: Stock 327 cu. in. Chevrolet V8 from a mid 60’s passenger car rated at about 300 horsepower. The M-20 wide ratio 4-speed transmission probably came from the same vehicle, and it shifts smoothly using a stock Corvette floor shifter. “Rams Head” style manifolds exit into side exhaust using stock mufflers. Still uses points type of ignition.
INTERIOR: The re-upholstered stock ’35 Chevy seats were done in a roll & pleated vinyl along with hand-stitched door panels, and headliner. They look fantastic for being done about 50 years ago and show no wear, broken seams, or tears. The carpeting is from that era too and shows little to no wear.
The stock ’35 dash uses vintage Seatronics-Cartronic gauges made in Towson, MD, and include a Tachometer, ammeter, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel gauge. Only the fuel does not work. There is no speedometer/odometer or heater.
CHASSIS: Stock 1935 Chevrolet frame with a 2” dropped axle with leaf springs & 50/50 shocks up front with a stock steering box and column (no power steering). Out back is a 9” Ford differential housing 3.55:1 (open) gears using leaf springs and ladder bars to keep it in place. Brakes are drum type on all 4-corners. Frame and its components are in very good condition. The Chevrolet rides on 215/70R/14 Cooper radials with vintage Keystone aluminum wheels.
Electrically the headlights and brake lights work, but taillights do not. You will also note the “blue dot’s” in the taillights.
No apparent leaks; it starts easily and runs strong. No issues with overheating.
