Up for sale, by a private party, is a rare piece of Chevrolet Corvette history and would be a crown jewel for any collector. There were only 700 C1 Corvettes built in 1955, with 693 being powered by the new 265 cu. in. V-8 and 7 using the 235 cu. in. “Blue Flame 150” I6 backed by a 2-speed Power Glide automatic transmission. This NCRS (National Corvette Restorer’s Society) Topflight and Bloomington Certified 1955 Corvette is one of those 7. It even retains the original 6-volt charging system as the V-8’s received a 12-volt.

The car was found in a pole barn in the mid 1990’s, where it had sat for 27 years. The documented history shows the car had 13,662 miles on it when the 10-year frame off restoration began. Currently, it has a little over 15,600.
The reason for the low mileage was due to the fourth owner pulling out the six-cylinder, dropping in a V-8, and drag racing the car from 1967 to 1970. The engine was then pulled out and the Corvette was parked in the barn with its original six-cylinder engine.
The Corvette was restored in its original Harvest Gold and green top with a matching yellow and green interior. Every nut, bolt, and screw were replaced to make this the Champion it is today.
Some of the factory options include the AM radio, parking brake alarm, courtesy lights, turn signals, and windshield washer.
Included with the car are the factory side curtains (since they did not have windows in the early Corvettes) stored in a canvas bag in the trunk along with the spare tire and jack.
