Rare low mileage (27,117) and original 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 2-door hardtop, (W108.018) Model 130 6-cylinder, 2.778 L/160 h.p., SOHC, w/Bosch Mechanical fuel injection backed by a four-speed automatic transmission.
This car is a true, documented time capsule having the original dark green paint was redone once, no rust, and never in an accident. You will notice two indentations on the passenger side door without any paint chips.
The interior is original and in excellent condition. No rips or stitching coming undone. All the gauges function as normal. The speedometer is still in kilometers. Wood in dash and doors are in fantastic original condition with only some slight chipping.
All the chrome inside and out is in excellent condition.
The tinted glass is original and in good condition (slight bubbling on the windshield, driver’s side)
Electrically, everything works including the Becker AM/FM radio, power antenna, and power sunroof. The clock does not run.
The history of this vehicle is fully documented from the bill of sale in Berlin, Germany, (see photo) the shipping to Texas, replacement of the cylinder head, and the new alternator. There is also a 2003 Washington Times article highlighting this 280 SE’s life (see photo).
In summary, the Mercedes was purchased new in October of 1970 in Berlin, Germany by a Berliner, who then sold the car in 1986 to a U.S. Army Dr. who had the car Federalized including the replacement of the glass headlights and shipped to Texas. This physician was relocated to California and later to the Walter Reed Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. In 1998 the car was sold to a close friend where it has remained in his family since.
The Benz runs and shifts like new and the four-wheel power disc brakes and power steering function perfectly.

Around 2011 I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage.
